Your Data, Your Rules
Privacy-First Period Tracking
Menstrual cycle data is deeply personal. That’s why Cycletrack is built as a PWA with an offline-first model. Your logs live on your device. Sync only if and when you choose.
Design choices we made
- Local-first storage: just create simple main account and keep all profiles with logs locally on a single device.
- Optional sync: encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS via our own API (no third-party sync relays). You decide when to sync, and you can use the app offline anytime.
- No dark patterns, no ads: clear choices, no manipulative popups, and we don’t sell your data - full stop.
What “no dark patterns” means
Dark patterns are design tricks that push you into something you didn’t intend. We don’t do that. In Cycletrack:
- No pre-checked boxes, hidden opt-outs, or confusing double negatives.
- No fake urgency, bait-and-switch CTAs, or nagging popups that block use.
- Consents (like analytics or notifications) are opt-in and easy to turn off.
- Privacy settings are easy to find and explained in plain language.
“We don’t sell your data” — plain English
Selling data means giving or swapping your personal information to third parties (advertisers, data brokers, etc.) for money or benefit. Cycletrack does not sell or share your data for advertising — and we don’t use third-party ad/behavioral trackers.
- Your data stays between you and Cycletrack to run the app (sync, support, security, legal obligations).
- If we use service providers (hosting, email, payments/donations), they’re bound by strict agreements and cannot use your data for their own purposes.
- We may use aggregated, de-identified usage stats to improve Cycletrack — never to profile you or track you across other sites/apps.
How encryption works today
Sync traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS directly between your device and our server (no third-party relays). This is transport-layer encryption. We’re exploring optional end-to-end encryption (E2EE) in a future release.
